This  study evaluated the association between cardiovascular risk factors 
during  postmenopausal years and menstrual cycle regularity during reproductive  
years.  It found significant association of previous menstrual cycle  
irregularity with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides and  
coronary angioplasty.  The study concluded that a prior history of  menstrual 
irregularity, as indicative of PCOS, may be related to an increased  risk for 
cardiovascular disease during postmenopausal years.
