Avandia  and Actos are thiazolidinediones.  Women with PCOS are often treated 
with  thiazolidinediones to improve their insulin sensitivity, glucose 
tolerance,  hyperandrogenism and restore ovulation.  Thiazolidediones have side 
effects  of weight gain, edema and anemia.  New research suggests the reduction of 
 hemoglobin and hematocrit may be due to the drugs ability to lower 
testosterone  levels.
